Cyberbullying

Bullying is already a major problem in our society today. When it reaches to the internet, then it becomes cyberbullying and it ends up affecting more people. When cyberbullying reaches the internet, numerous amounts of people are able to read it. Cyberbullying can occur at anytime and it allows people to harass each other which could even end up in people harming themselves. Also, you have to include the other emotions people feel when they get cyberbullied such as feeling depressed and empty because of the harassment they receive. They also feel hopeless as if there is no one they can talk to or feeling of hopelessness because you lost the feelings of friendship.

SOLUTIONS TO CYBERBULLYING

1. Understand the Scope

Many adults believe social media sites are the likely stages for the bullying behaviors, and they’re right. But, with 73% of teens now using smartphones, there’s a greater scope of potential harm. Bullying can occur on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or through Snapchat, emails and texts coming directly from bullies. And since these phones never far from teen hands, the harassment can become almost constant. With technology changing so rapidly, it’s important for parents to always monitor their children’s mobile devices and their online behavior to get ahead of any potential threats.

2. Hold Bullies Accountable

A team of researchers at Clemson University is developing an app that scans photos, videos and social media data to recognize signs of bullying. If bullying is detected, the app alerts the victim, their parents, school administrators and even the perpetrator, in effect providing total visibility to stop bullying in its tracks. Even without an app ready to go, parents should be holding bullies accountable by alerting school officials and the bullies’ parents. Bullies need to understand that their actions have consequences, and everyone deserves to live without fear. Armed with data and actionable solutions, however, parents and teens can help turn the tide against bad online behavior.

STATISTICS

According to Cyber bullying statistics from the i-SAFE foundation:

•Over half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online, and about the same number have engaged in cyber bullying. •More than 1 in 3 young people have experienced cyber-threats online.
Over 25 percent of adolescents and teens have been bullied repeatedly through their cell phones or the Internet.Over 25 percent of adolescents and teens have been bullied repeatedly through their cell phones or the Internet.

According to the Harford County Examiner cyber bullying statistics:

Around half of teens have been the victims of cyber bullying
Fewer than 1 in 5 cyber bullying incidents are reported to law enforcement
1 in 10 adolescents or teens have had embarrassing or damaging pictures taken of themselves without their permission, often using cell phone cameras
About 1 in 5 teens have posted or sent sexually suggestive or nude pictures of themselves to othersGirls are somewhat more likely than boys to be involved in cyber bullying

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR?

In Canada, a recent bill was introduced that makes it illegal to distribute images of a person without their consent, and allows police to obtain a warrant for information about Internet users based on reasonable grounds to suspect, an offense has been perpetrated. The bill isn’t perfect, but it could become a road map for future legislation keeping kids safe on the Internet. Meanwhile, in the US, laws vary by state, so it’s important to understand your rights and escalate things to the proper authorities if they become out of hand.

WHY IS THE VOICE OF YOUTH BETTER?

•We review policies related to cyberbullying, and offering recommendations for improvements
•We talk and spread awareness through social media
•We include training of students named Safe School Ambassadors Program,    an effective way to equip students with the skills to prevent and stop cyberbullying, and other forms of peer mistreatment and violence
•We deliver parent education workshops that increase their awareness of the problem and signs of cyberbullying and other forms of mistreatment.

THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP

Help your friends better understand what cyberbullying is by initiating a conversation. Ask a couple of thought-provoking questions, share experiences, and try to get your friends and acquaintances as involved as possible. As they answer questions, discuss, and ask questions they will come to the conclusion themselves about the dangers of cyberbullying. This conversations should help students understand the consequences of cyberbullying. Online interactions remove a feeling of responsibility; making us prone to do or say things that we never would in person. However, if students are educated about the dangers of cyberbullying, they can cultivate an “online conscience.” Empower your students by helping them realize the influence that their words and actions can have on others, and the responsibility that they have to use it for good.R

https://howictcanbeusedtoeffectsocialchangeinabm.wordpress.com/2017/03/04/first-blog-post/

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) enabled me as a student to adopt a more critical framework in consuming and creating media products. It emphasized self-directed and outcomes-based learning in which I initiated and managed my own learning through the activities that equipped me with professional and real-world skills, helping me become a more active and responsible member of the society. ICT has become a space for expression and transformation. It helped me engage with the lessons in a more critical manner. ICT makes students readiness for our future path in our profession. This makes bold and innovative that could benefit for the individuals. Changes may happen but because of it we learned and mold our selves. It makes works easier and it won’t be time-consuming.

Importance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has an important role in the world since we are now in the information age era. With ICT, the company can make the business easier to happen with the client, supplier and the distributor. It is also very important in our daily lives. The lack of appropriate information at the right time will result in low productivity, low-quality research works, and a waste of time to pursue information and even to do research which actually others had done or in other countries. Nowadays ICT cannot be separated with our daily needs.

ICT has a great impact on our daily lives. For example, we can read our local newspaper using the online newspaper. Another example is we still can get connected with our family, relatives, or colleagues even if we are abroad by using the electronic mail, yahoo messenger, call conference, or video conference.

Digital computer and networking have changed our economy concept to the economy with no boundary in time and space because of ICT. It brings a lot of advantages for economic development enabling millions of transactions to happen in an easy and fast way.

ICT is one of the economic development pillars to gain a national competitive advantage. It can improve the quality of human life because it can be used as a learning and education media, the mass communication media in promoting and campaigning practical and important issues, such as the health and social area. It provides wider knowledge and can help in gaining and accessing information.

ICT has become an integral part of everyday life for many people. It increases its importance in people’s lives and it is expected that this trend will continue, to the extent that ICT literacy will become a functional requirement for people’s work, social, and personal lives.

The use of ICT in education adds value in teaching and learning, by enhancing the effectiveness of learning, or by adding a dimension to learning that was not previously available. ICT may also be a significant motivational factor in students’ learning and can support students’ engagement with collaborative learning.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is basically our society’s efforts to teach its current and emerging citizens valuable knowledge and skills around computing and communications devices, software that operates them, applications that run on them and systems that are built with them.

As a matter of fact, we are living in a constantly evolving digital world. ICT has an impact on nearly every aspect of our lives – from working to socializing, learning to playing. The digital age has transformed the way young people communicate, network, seek help, access information and learn. We must recognize that young people are now an online population and access is through a variety of means such as computers, TV and mobile phones.

Being a student of ABM we have lots of performance task that uses PowerPoint Presentation as a tool for our report. In the past, students usually use manila paper or cartolinas for visual aid in presenting but nowadays since we are in the modern generation we use PowerPoint for visual aids and by this, it makes efficiency and effectively. ICT plays a bigger role here because it discusses how things work in PowerPoint. How a presentation can be delivered as an effective presentation.

In accounting, it is our nature of making Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Journalizing and many more. Accountants used notebooks or journal notebook for encoding but now Excel helps accountants to make their work easier. Excel is the most common tool for making Statements and also it is useful for pay slips. It helps more in organizing the accounts and it helps in solving easily.

Also practicing on making letters is very helpful in applying for jobs or giving letters for an invitation. We used papers and put them on envelops and send it to mail senders. This may take how many days for the receiver to receive the letter but, by using Word and type the content of the letter it won’t take time to give those letter using the mail merge.
